This moving and epic novel tells the story of three generations of Florida settlers fighting to survive in old Florida. These settlers not only survive but prosper as well. Allapattah is also a novel of a Seminole in the Everglades. Here Patrick Smith tells the story of Toby Tiger, a young Indian in despair at having to live in the white man's world. As a whole, the novel was favorably received, but not without its share of controversy.
